FiftyFifty Brewing Co joined up with fellow CA Craft Brewers to visit Sacramento legislators and educate them about Craft Beer

On March 12th, I had the pleasure and privilege of joining up with over 30 other California craft brewery owners to head to the State Capitol and meet one-on-one with our legislators and decision makers, an effort organized and put together by the California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA).  We advocated on key issues, such as franchise law and tied-house laws, and their importance to the craft brewing industry.  There are close to 1000 craft breweries in California, and as an industry, we have a huge economic impact and provide thousands of jobs across the state.

While I can’t speak for everyone, the Senators and Assembly Members that I spoke with were all very engaged, and graciously took the time to hear about our industry, our passions, and our concerns.  But let’s face it, almost everyone loves beer, so it’s probably a pretty refreshing topic for them all to hear about.

After a day of wearing suits (and seeing a bunch of brewers in suits is quite a site!), we all went and changed out for our standard uniforms (aka jeans, flip flops, and a brewery hoody), and hit the town to celebrate a great day of work.  And what do craft brewery owners drink when they go out?  Craft cocktails of course.  But shhhh… don’t tell anyone. :)
